The concept of a community for small-scale, handcrafted products originated when we were seeking a way to transform a hobby into something more substantial. High fees and fierce competition made online selling seem unattainable. Craft_ufacture emerged from the belief that artisans who have the ability to micro-scale their production will benefit from a marketplace where their works are sold at "wholesale", and that independent home goods retailers and gift shops throughout America could feature truly distinctive items on their shelves with minimal commitments.
